The 2008 Fall schedule for adult school classes begins on Tuesday, September 9 at 7pm with a six-session class on the classic novel, Tode ja Oigus I. All participants will have finished reading the novel before the first class session. The discussion will focus first on the theme of “man versus the land,” the ways of farm life and its traditions in Estonia and impact of the land on the Estonian character and culture and secondly on the literary merits of the novel. The course will, of course, be conducted in Estonian and some writing in Estonian will be required. Irene Verder, who taught the popular Estonian language classes in 2007-2008, will be back to lead the discussions. The six-week course costs $30. Registration is required.
